Auto-Auto

Although there have been myriads of newcomers emerging from the Electro scene, there was seldom a real ray of light among them... and if an act appeared that had that special „something“, it almost always came out of Sweden. Now, another young duo from the land of mooses, IKEA and expensive beer is getting ready for take-off: Auto-Auto. While Johan Hellqvist and Erik Frankel might ring a bell with a few really well-informed aficionados of melodic but experimental Electro, their big break-through is yet to come... their massive hit „Shadowlands“ (on the the sixth instalment of the Awake-the-Machines- series), the „Toadboy“-promo-freebie-single handed out at WGT and the long player „Celeste“, which is just nearing completion, will surely take care of that. „We already know each other since our school days, but used to have little contact,“ says Johan. This changed rather quickly when they met again at Arvika Festival a few years later and noticed that they had quite the same taste in music. When Erik moved to Gotenburg, the two shared a flat and Auto-Auto was born. Auto-Auto? Quite a strange name, isn‘t it? Johan grins: „we know that the name will sound weird to Germans ('Auto‘ is the common term for 'car‘), but if I remember correctly, it was derived from the English word 'automatic‘ ... and as we are two people, it had to be two 'autos‘!“ It is always easier working with a fresh record deal in your pocket - hence, the singer is already floating in dreams of the near future: „we just re-recorded all the vocals for 'Celeste‘ and just have to mix everything to sound cool. In autumn, we are planning to play loads of gigs... we‘ll have tons of fun, drink beer and everything else that goes with it!“ Get ready for something special!
