| Die niederländische
Electro-Band um Sänger
und Mastermind Reinier Kahle
hat sich fast drei Jahre
Zeit gelassen, um einen
Nachfolger für ihr
von Kritikern und Publikum
gelobtes Album „Avatar“
einzuspielen. Dass die Band
in dieser Zeit kontinuierlich
an ihrem Stil gefeilt hat,
zeigt sich bereits nach
den ersten Klängen
von „Unison“,
die einerseits zwar sofort
das typische Angels and
Agony Feeling aufkommen
lassen, andererseits aber
noch knackiger und auf den
Punkt durchkomponiert aus
den Boxen schallen. Die

Melodik von Synth- und Future-Pop

for almost three years
on a follow-up to their
highly appraised album
“Avatar.”
But it has been well worth
the wait, as “Unison”
delivers from the first
note to the last. All
tracks carry the group’s
trademark sound and feel
but sound so fresh and
to the point that one
cannot help but notice
how much the guys have
been working on perfecting
their unique style. The
songs combine the catchy
melodies of Synth- and
Future Pop with the heavy
hitting impact of EBM
and some groovy dance
elements, while carefully
avoiding all of the usual
Trance-clichés.
But what makes Angels
and Agony really stand
out from the crowd is
an emotional deepness
that reflects in a certain
subtle melancholy intertwined
within the musical textures.
Fittingly, the lyrics
are also deep reflections
on emotions and spirituality.

is intelligent club music
with strong hooks and
